A Masterclass in Science Communication

Marina Joubert is a science communication researcher at Stellenbosch University (SU), with a specific interest in the communication behaviour of South African research leaders. She is part of the research group at the South African Research Chair in Science Communication, hosted at the Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science and Technology (CREST). After working as a science communication manager and consultant for two decades, she joined SU in January 2015 where she launched the first online course in science communication in Africa. In July 2015, she won the National Science and Technology Forum Award for her outstanding contribution to science, engineering, technology and innovation in South Africa. She submitted her PhD dissertation about the factors that influence the science communication behaviour of publicly visible scientists at the end of 2017.
